Job Summary

Job Summary

The instructor will be responsible for delivering digital media course content to K12 students at multiple county educational sites including the Juvenile Detention Center, Court and Community Day School, and the Charter School. Additionally, the instructor will conduct digital literacy class instruction for Seniors over 60 years of age focusing on basic computer skills. This instructor will work closely with school site Principals, as well as the Director of Alternative Education to ensure instruction is aligned with California State Academic and CTE Standards.

Summary of Duties

  • Assists in maintaining and ensuring a consistent, rigorous and equitable educational experience for all students in CTE course.
  • Plans, organizes, and teaches the charter CTE education program.
  • Integrates and expands CTE awareness with charter educators through various media and activities.
  • Facilitates a short and long-term plan for charter to integrate CTE principles into the instructional program such as technology infusion, rigorous, project-based and applied learning experiences, internationalized school-to-career connections for students, and 21st Century skills.
  • Collaborates with math, science, English, and CTE curriculum committees.
  • Assist with recommendations for instructional material, media and equipment for the classroom including research-based innovations, hardware, software, and current industry-standards-based equipment.
  • Facilitates student participation in various local, regional and national competitions for CTE as well as conferences.
  • Serves as a member of the Charter CTE Advisory Committee.
  • Prepares a variety of program evaluation reports.
  • Ensures direct alignment with the charter strategic plan, proper adherence to YCOE policy and procedures, and applicable contract language.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Demonstrated commitment to students and learning;
  • Knowledge of effective instructional practices, California CTE standards and CTE educational issues;
  • Knowledge of California Common Core Standards relative to mathematics, science, technology and engineering, including trends, current theories, techniques and methodologies of STEM, and current trends related to 9-12 STEM curriculum design;
  • Ability to analyze data from multiple sources to design and implement successful CTE curriculum programs and activities;
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent organization, time management and follow-up skills;
  • Strong community-building skills; experience in supporting teachers and administration;
  • Strong computer and internet search skills;
