The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County’s most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. Job Summary
We are currently recruiting for a dynamic Transition Specialist for our Title I Program. The Transition Specialist performs a variety of difficult and highly responsible duties to assist and support neglected and delinquent youth in transitioning from juvenile institution and alternative school environments to other school placements or to employment in the community. The person selected will meet with individual students to set goals, provide individual and group counseling and information to assist students in making successful transitions. This position requires the ability to interact with students with a diverse range of problems and issues in an effective and engaging manner.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education, Experience, and Training Guidelines: •Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in social services, psychology, public administration, or a closely related field. •At least two years of progressively responsible experience in providing academic, vocational, employment, and/or related services to at-risk youth.
