THE POSITION The Student Services & Support Division is now accepting applications for Paraeducator - Opportunity Youth Academy. Under the supervision of the site administrator, assists classroom teachers in the instruction, supervision, and training of individuals or groups of students enrolled in in Opportunity Youth Academy ("OYA"), which includes students receiving either regular and/or special education instruction; performs a variety of related duties in the maintenance of an effective learning environment for students. This job class is distinguished from the Paraeducator-Special Education and Paraeducator-Alternative Education classification in that the incumbent assists with academic teaching and support to 16 to 24- year olds who are re-entering school to complete their high school diploma. Employees in this classification receive direct-to-general supervision within a framework of standard policies and procedures. This job class provides responsible instructional assistance to assigned teachers/students in implementing the educational and social objectives. This job class requires a high degree of positive contact with both students and instructional staff. This position is part-time, has a work year of 11 months, 192 days, 6 hours per day. • Assessments and interviews will take place virtually via Zoom Meetings.
• Following the final filing date, the qualifications of all candidates will be evaluated.
• The most qualified candidates will be invited to participate in a written exam, tentatively scheduled for 9/8/2023.
• Those who pass the written exam will be invited to participate in an oral examination with subject matter experts, tentatively scheduled for 9/14/2023.
• Based on the final scores of qualified candidates, Classified Personnel Services will establish a ranked candidate list.
• Selected candidates from the list will be invited to a second interview with the hiring authorities, tentatively scheduled for the week of 9/18/2023.
• Candidates will be invited over email to participate in examination and selection steps, using the email supplied within their Governmentjobs.com applications, or as updated by candidates in their Governmentjobs.com master profiles.
