Job Summary

Human Resources Technicians at SLCUSD perform a wide variety of highly responsible technical duties in areas related to both certificated, classified and non-merit personnel, and perform related duties as assigned. This is a Confidential position as defined in Ed Code, please refer to the Confidential agreement on the slcusd.org website for additional information on benefits assigned to this class. Qualified candidates will possess experience and training that demonstrates an ability to perform the essential functions of the position, as listed in the job description. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities required for the position includes five years of increasingly responsible HR experience, including two years at a technical level, and the equivalent of two years of college. POSITION TITLE: HUMAN RESOURCES TECHNICIAN - CONFIDENTIAL PURPOSE: To fill an upcoming vacancy in the Human Resources department, and to create an eligibility list to fill positions that may occur in the next six months. WORK YEAR: 12 months/year; 8 hours/day; Monday - Friday; 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM or 6:30 AM - 3:30 PM (depends on department need at the time of hire). QUALIFICATION PROCESS: District Applications covering relevant knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience will be evaluated on a job-related basis. Applicants who pass screening with minimum qualifications will be contacted to take a written examination. A) 40% - A written examination covering skills, knowledge, and abilities required of a Human Resources Technician. More details will be provided to candidates who pass application screening, and who are invited to the exam. Minimum passing score is 70%. Applicants will be contacted via email of scores. It is anticipated the top 8-10 candidates will proceed to the oral board interviews. B) 60% - An oral interview covering personal qualifications, experience, and training is required in order to be considered eligible for this position. Minimum passing score is 70%. Candidates must pass both the examination and the oral board interviews to be placed on the eligibility list. The top three ranks of candidates following the exam and oral board interviews will be invited to a hiring interview. SPECIAL NOTES: 1) Correctly filling out forms and following other instructions contained in this notice are part of the testing process. 2) Applicants with disabilities must notify the Human Resources Office of any special needs so that adequate preparation may be made for their testing. 3) Veterans qualifying for the oral board examination may receive 5 additional points added to their final score if proof of discharge is submitted at time of oral board interview. A "veteran" as used here means any person who served in the United States armed forces or National Guard in time of war or national emergency. 4) Eligibility lists are established for a period of six months.
