Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Administrator of Educational Programs, teach adult students the skills necessary to become a certified nurse assistant. This class meets all State and Federal regulations to prepare students for the State Certification Exam. The instructor will teach classroom labs and monitor training in a long-term care facility. In addition to the teaching assignment, work with the Program Director, who serves as the liaison between the ROP and the California Department of Public Health.

1. Must have (1) year experience as a licensed nurse, providing direct patient care in a long-term care facility, in addition to (1) year experience planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in nursing. OR: (2) years of experience as a licensed nurse, at least one year of which must be in the provision of direct patient care within a nursing facility. 2. Must possess or be eligible to attain the Instructor or Director of Staff Development Certificate from the California Department of Public Health. 3. Must possess or be eligible to attain the Career Technical Education Teaching Credential. 4. Note: Teaching Credential: The successful candidate must qualify for or possess a valid Three-Year Preliminary or Five-Year Clear Designated Subjects Career Technical Education Credential including English Second Language Certification. Coastline ROP will assist you in starting the credentialing process. Detailed information for obtaining a Designated Subjects Career Technical Education credential may be found at http://www.ctc.ca.gov/credentials/leaflets/cl888.pdf.
