Job Summary
Job Summary
Under the supervision of the elementary school principal and with direction from the classroom teachers, the instructional fine arts music specialist assists with instruction in the area of music. Ideally, the chosen candidate will be able to instruct students in both vocal and basic instrumental music (recorder, percussion, etc.) Grade level performances and a musical at each site are also currently part of the elementary music program.
Requirements / Qualifications
Qualifications: 1. Previous Experience: Experience working with students or youth groups. PREFERRED: experience instructing students in a classroom setting and/or professional experience as a vocalist or musician. 2. Education: Equivalent to graduation from the twelfth grade. PREFERRED: College degree in music education, vocal music and/or instrumental music. Work Calendar: 25.0 hours per week with a work calendar of school year only (10 months). The weekly work hours will be set according to the needs of the school. The first day for students is Tuesday, August 15, 2023, preceded by a staff professional development day on Monday, August 14, 2023. The last day with students is Thursday, June 6, 2024. A six-month probationary period must be passed before a new classified employee becomes permanent with the District. School is in session 8:10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Placement on classified salary range 37 is dependent on experience as an instructional arts specialist in similar educational settings. The monthly salary ranges from $3,054.08 to $3,896.48 per month, which corresponds to $28.19 to $35.97 per hour. Paychecks are issued twice a month, late August through mid-June.
Benefits:
An excellent benefits package is offered to employees who work 50% or more of a full-time position, with the District contributing up to $19,788 per year per employee. Premiums paid by a part-time employee are pro-rated based on the employee’s full-time equivalent (FTE) percentage. This position has an FTE of 0.625 (62.5 % of a full-time position), such that the employee would pay the full employee premium plus the remaining 37.5% of the employer premium. The benefits year runs October 1 through September 30. The new hire will be enrolled in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS).
