Job Summary

Job Summary

The position of Multiple Subject Teacher is employed by John Muir Charter Schools (JMCS) and is responsible for classroom instruction of young adults participating in the California Conservation Corps (CCC) program in Camarillo. CCC and JMCS’s innovative education programs are designed to provide youth, ages 18-25, with an engaging educational experience that meets individual needs. JMCS combines direct instruction, project work, credit recovery, life skills, work readiness training and other academic experiences into a highly personalized high school classroom. The classroom is a self-contained class; the instructor facilitates all academic content. Students generally are in the academic classroom 12-15 hours per week in late afternoon through evening and obtaining job skills with the CCC during the day. The Camarillo CCC Center is a residential center, and students live on site. JMCS provides curriculum and support, and the instructor is held responsible for creating a dynamic, engaging, rigorous, and supportive experience for our students. This full-time position will be supported by CCC on-site vocational and project staff who will provide career development training, conservation awareness and various other activities through the CCC. JMCS staff on site work collaboratively with the CCC staff to support the success of the students. The position is .5 FTE, 5 days per week. This site is on a Semester calendar with holidays and breaks; July is a non-instructional month, although summer school is optional. This position is expected to be an active and cooperative member of the CCC and JMCS communities.

Requirements / Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in Education or any related field. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: • California teaching credential is required. Multiple Subject preferred. Single Subject Credential in any subject will also be considered, or Education Specialist Instruction Credential Mild/Moderate. • English Learner Authorization (CLAD or other) or ability to obtain one • University Interns welcome to apply
