Upon completion of the first year of employment, a $1,000 signing bonus will be paid, contingent upon positive evaluations. (Compensation prorated to start date)

POSITION: Paraeducator III – Special Education
WORK SCHEDULE: 7:45 A.M. – 3:30 P.M. Monday through Friday. This schedule applies to days when students are present. A copy of the school year calendar may be found on the district’s web site: www.pvsd.net
LOCATION: Corte Madera School (grades 4-8)
COMPENSATION: $28.54 - $31.45/hour to start. This position is eligible for District sponsored health & welfare benefits per the terms of the CSEA contract.

DEFINITION: Under the administrative supervision of the Director of Education Services & Wellness, the Paraeducator III will provide required support for a special education student in the general education and/or special education classroom setting.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Carry out instructional activities with special education students as planned by certificated special educator or general education teacher.
- Assist special educator or general education teacher in implementing the classroom behavior management plan.
- Provide objective feedback to special educator and/or general education teacher on student progress and behavior.
- Provide instruction to individual and small groups using appropriate methods and materials provided by special education teacher or general education teacher.
- Assist special education students with computer technology.
- Participate in student-centered meetings when requested (e.g., team meetings and/or IEP meetings), and become familiar with goals and objectives.
- Work collaboratively with all school staff.
- Assist in modifying curriculum tests and making accommodations for students receiving special education services under supervision of special educator.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as requested by special educator, general education teacher, site administrator and Director of Special Education.
- Communicate with students’ parents only under the direction and with the approval of the special educator or general education teacher.
- Maintain confidentiality.

- Follow district procedures for maintaining healthy and safe environments for students.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of IDEA and Parent’s Rights
- Knowledge of district policies
- Understand role distinctions between teacher and paraeducator
- Ability to assist students with computer technology
- Knowledge of IEP process and procedures
- Knowledge of typical and atypical child development
ADA COMPLIANCE:
- Significant sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Regular and predictable attendance.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Environmental Factors: A large part of the required daily assignments will take place indoors in a classroom setting. Tasks are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature extremes, machinery vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, animals/wildlife, toxic/poisonous agents, violence, disease, or pathogenic substances.
- Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require visual perception and discrimination. Some tasks require oral communications ability.
