About the Employer
We are a unified school district serving more than 16,150 students in grades K -12. We have thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, three specialized high schools, two alternative high schools and one K-8 school. We also offer a home schooling program, adult education courses and other unique programs to fit the needs of all students. BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Director of Maintenance & Operations or designee, perform a variety of skilled activities in the maintenance and repair of district building, facilities and equipment including tasks in an assigned trade such as carpentry, electrical, HVAC & R, locksmith, painting, plumbing and welding.
DUTIES: Perform skilled electrical work in the inspection, repair, alteration, installation and maintenance of electrical systems, wiring and equipment; troubleshoot and resolve electrical malfunctions; trace out wiring, perform diagnostic tests on system components and replace defective wires and parts. Inspect, repair, install, test, service and maintain electrical systems, including conduit, wiring, circuits, generators, transformers, breakers, motors, switches and various electrical appliances; replace power cords, equipment and machines; repair or replace lights as needed. Install electrical wiring and systems; assemble and bend conduit and pull wire; maintain duct systems; install new circuits or replace existing circuits as needed; repair or replace power outlets as necessary; replace breakers as appropriate (see attached job description for full details and requirements). EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school supplemented by completion of an approved apprenticeship program and three years journey-level experience in assigned maintenance trade (electrician). Licenses and other requirements: Valid California driver’s license. SELECTION & EXAMINATIONS: The selection process will consist of a application screening for completeness and qualifications. A written/performance exam (weighted 40%) date to be determined and an oral interview exam (weighted 60%) will be conducted (date to be determined). A passing score must be achieved on each portion of the exams. Final selection will be made from those who achieve the three highest ranking scores.
