Job Summary

The AVID elective teacher is a skilled educator grounded in relationships. AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is an academic acceleration program that aims to prepare students in the academic middle for four-year colleges. The AVID elective curriculum features writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, reading, note taking, and study skills. AVID elective students also enroll in at least one rigorous course in high school, including honors or AP, the AVID elective teacher is responsible for supporting students’ academic success across content areas.

Requirements / Qualifications

Qualification for employment includes completion of online training in the following areas: • Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Prevention • Mandated Reporter: Child Abuse & Neglect • Restraint and Seclusion • Sexual Harassment Prevention for Non-Managers • VIPS Very Important Points: New Employee Trainings • Workplace Violence: Awareness and Prevention • Youth Suicide: Awareness, Prevention and Postvention Upon offer of employment, candidates will receive information and directions regarding this training. Applicants must possess a valid California credential authorizing service in Computer Science, including an English Learner Authorization.

All interested applicants must attached the materials listed below for hiring consideration:

  • Credential Copy (Valid California Teaching credential authorizing service in High School Teaching (any single subject))
  • English Learner Authorization (If embedded in credential, then upload credential copy again and label file “English Learner Authorization”)
  • Letter of Introduction

Additional Salary Information: * Upon hiring, salary placement will be determined by the number of upper division/graduate level units earned from a WASC accredited four-year college or university. Units must be earned subsequent to the date of the Bachelor's degree. * A maximum of fifteen (15) years credit is allowed for teaching experience in a public school (K-12) or an accredited private school (K-12). * There is a $1,000.00 Doctoral stipend.
