La Vida Charter School is a small rural school serving approximately 70 students in the heart of Mendocino County. Founded in 2001 by parents and community members, the WASC accredited school serves as an educational alternative to the county residents and beyond. La Vida offers an innovative program that is child centered, strengths based and collaborative, working closely with parents and students. Integrated curriculum is available to all its K-12 independent study students. Optional onsite, multi-grade classes support the home study studetns with a main lesson, and specialty classes, including visual and performing arts, world languages, field science with sustainable practices. The school is located on the beautiful and historic 5,000 acre Ridgewood Ranch, Home of Seabiscuit, on Highway 101, between Ukiah and Willits, California.

Job Summary

La Vida Charter School desires to hire a part time, organized and enthusiastic high school teacher. Candidates should possess a multiple subject credential and have an area of specialty. They should also enjoy working individually with students and parents, overseeing their students’ home programs. be computer proficient, efficient with paperwork, willing to collaborate faculty and embrace the school’s charter. Through the course of a week, the requirements of this job would be to meet with students individually, reviewing and assigning their independent study courses. Teaching a specialty class would be desirable. ualifications: ? Possessing a California Credential, a Multiple Subject K-12 enclosed classroom is preferred. Intern Credential acceptable. ? Brings a variety of interests to the school. ? Demonstrated success in creating a differentiated and collaborative classroom. ? Willingness to further training in Waldorf Methods and other educational techniques. Details: Part time. Salary is negotiable with desired experience. Health and Retirement Benefits accrue with a 20 hour a week position. Starts the week of Aug 14 for full faculty in-service.
