* * * THIS POSITION IS OPEN TO INTERNAL CANDIDATES ONLY * * * TEMPORARY POSITION UNDER GRANT * * * DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Under the immediate direction of the Elementary Principal. The position of Literacy Coach is to provide specialized academic instruction to support students in developing necessary literacy skills. The reading Specialist is responsible for implementing a comprehensive literacy program through coaching, supporting, guiding teachers in best practices for literacy instruction and providing professional development along with Major duties and responsibilities list below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • Permanent status in LUSD • Meet district standard performance ratings on Stull evaluation and, in the preceding four years, have no unsatisfactory or needs improvement rating • Three years or more of teaching experience • Clear Multiple Subjects Credential • Appropriate certification to teach English language learners (CLAD, BCLAD, SB1969 certificate, BCC or LDS certificate) or willingness to make a commitment to gain certification within one year of assignment. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: • Preferred Reading and Literacy Added authorization CL-812 credential • Experience in collaborative planning and delivery of differentiated professional development to classroom practitioners
