The Calaveras County Office of Education (“CCOE”) partners with our four local school districts and the community to provide quality education to our county’s 5,270 students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grades. We manage alternative education programs for students at Calaveras River Academy, Mountain Oaks Charter School (an Independent Study program), and Oakendell Community School. We also offer adult education services, and a variety of special education services as the Responsible Local Agency (“RLA”) for the Special Education Local Plan Area (“SELPA”); including, five special education preschool programs and a program for transition-aged young adults (ages 18-22). Job Summary
Job Summary
In the Division of Student Support Services, the Foster Youth Services Specialist acts as a liaison between schools, caregivers, parents, educational rights holders, group homes, placing agencies, and others to ensure that the educational needs of students in foster care and/or students in homeless situations are being met; provides direct services to students to improve educational and transitional outcomes; assists in coordinating the activities of the Foster Youth Services (FYS) and/or Homeless Education Services (HES) and meeting program goals.
