Natomas Unified is seeking a Director in our Special Education Department who will primarily focus on Special Education. We are seeking a leader who is ready to engage in strategic initiatives designed to align our educational programs and services to support every student, every day. Professional educators eager to prepare all students to graduate as college and career ready, productive, responsible, and engaged global citizens are strongly encouraged to apply. Some of the Director’s responsibilities include: *Assist in identifying appropriate placements and services for students *Provide staff professional development and provide parent education training programs. *Supervises and implements special education program at school sites: observes in special education classrooms, evaluates educational plans, participates in 504 meetings, participates in parent conferences, works with individual students, provides diagnostic assessments, observes students integrated in general education classrooms, conferences with district staff members. *Respond to and resolve concerns and complaints from parents and the general community. *Support site leaders and staff with program supports and development *Monitor special education data and collaborate with school teams. INTERVIEW TIMELINE: -1st round interviews are planned for August 7, 2023 -Applicants selected for an interview will be notified by August 4, 2023
Requirements / Qualifications
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities could qualify someone for this position. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university with a major in education, education administration, public administration or a related field. Administrative Services Credential and appropriate California Teaching Credential are required. Experience: Minimum five years of increasing responsibility and experience in related field, including two years of supervisory or administrative responsibility, preferably in a public school system. Experience should demonstrate innovative leadership and vision. Administrative experience in K-12 setting preferred, managing programs, supervising staff, collaborating with community and business partners, providing oversight of health and safety, and aligning resources and services in education settings. LICENSES & CERTIFICATES • Valid California Administrative Services Credential required • Valid California driver's license
