The Partnership is a non-profit, in-District partner to LA Unified, not a charter network. As an independent nonprofit organization, the Partnership serves 13,550 students across 20 LA Unified schools in Watts, Boyle Heights and South Los Angeles. The Partnership works within the Los Angeles Unified School District context, which includes honoring all collective bargaining agreements for its teachers and school staff.

20th Street Elementary School is home of the Dolphins and serves over 500 students just south of downtown Los Angeles. 20th Street is home to a general elementary program as well as a Dual Immersion (Spanish) program. The school has a proud track record of big academic gains for students over the last 8 years. Between 2015 and 2019, ELA SBAC grew 25 percentage points (19% to 44%), and Math SBAC grew 22 percentage points (19% to 41%). Given this achievement, Innovate Public Schools, in partnership with USC Sol Price School of Public Policy and USC Rossier School of Education, recognized 20th Street in 2019 as a Top Los Angeles Public School. This honor was earned for great progress toward closing the achievement gap for low-income African American and Latino students in Los Angeles County. 20th Street’s students have access to many excellent community partners, benefit from wonderful parent engagement, and more.
