The Lawndale Elementary School District has eight open vacancies for an internship opportunity with our Student Support Services Intern Program. We welcome you to join our team at LESD - Building Brighter Futures!
Requirements / Qualifications
Qualified applicants should possess skills in listening; oral expression and writing skills; an ability to respond to constructive criticism professionally; an ability to work with children, peers, parents, and school or agency personnel; a willingness to go beyond basic requirements; flexibility in adapting to change; observance of protocol and rules; responsivity to professional ethics. General Responsibilities -Work in conjunction with school social workers, parents, students, teachers, and administrators to conduct biopsychosocial assessments and family needs assessments, group counseling, parenting training, and work with/referral to outside agencies as appropriate for student and family needs. - Participate in IEP, SST, RtI, SART, and parent meetings - Provide case management for SARB to assist in the prevention and remediation of problems of attendance. - Monitoring of students with serious attendance problems and assisting in follow-up by phone, email, letters, attendance reports, and tracking attendance on PowerSchool. - Collaborate with school social workers on universal interventions for students such as Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) and Restorative Justice. - Assist site and district staff in conducting wellness checks and home visits. - Assist school social worker with crisis counseling referrals for students as needed. - Provide counseling services to students with socioemotional needs - Plan, assess, and attend staff development for the design and monitoring of support plans
