The Position:
Applications are currently being accepted for the position of Chief Broadcast Engineer directly supporting KSDS (88.3 FM) and the instructional Radio, Television, and Film departments at San Diego City College. City College is home to the nationally recognized premier Jazz station—KSDS (88.3 FM). One of three credit colleges in the San Diego Community College District, City College is an urban campus, minutes away from the world-class zoo and Balboa and Chicano Parks. City College provides academic and career-technical offerings to meet the needs of a diverse student body.
The Chief Broadcast Engineer position is critical to the daily operation of KSDS (88.3 FM) as well as the Radio, Television, and Film departments. Regular work schedule is Monday through Friday; however, the selected candidate must be willing to adjust work days/hours based on the needs of the campus and KSDS (88.3 FM). Evenings and weekends may be required to support continuous broadcasting of the radio station.
Please note that an employee may be transferred to any site at the option of the Chancellor.

The ideal candidate will be able to:
• Demonstrate experience serving as a Chief Broadcast Engineer for an FM radio station, high-definition streaming station (student station), and television facility;• Demonstrate experience effectively planning, organizing, maintaining and repairing the equipment of an FM radio station, high-definition streaming (student station), and television facility;• Demonstrate experience monitoring, maintaining and repairing studio cameras, teleprompters, audio boards, television boards, lighting systems, wireless systems, and servers;• Provide on-call support as needed;• Demonstrate knowledge of current Federal Communication Commission (FCC) regulations and district policy;• Demonstrate experience with procurement practices related to acquisition of parts, supplies, and equipment;• Demonstrate experience requesting quotes and bids for large purchases;• Demonstrate knowledge of basic health and safety protocols related to the operation of an FM radio station, high-definition streaming station (student station), and television facility;• Demonstrate experience developing budgets, controlling and coordinating expenditures, maintaining records, and preparing reports;• Prepare engineering designs for the installation and maintenance of television and radio systems as necessary;• Demonstrate currency in operation and use of computers and basic software applications necessary for area of specialty;• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing;• Understand and follow oral and written instructions; and• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, District personnel and the general public.

Pay Information:
Range 13 ($6,545.76-$10,928.39) per month based on the current Supervisory and Professional Employees’ Association – Salary Schedule AInitial salary placement is commensurate with related experience and promotional rules. The District offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including employer paid: medical, dental, and vision plans; sick and vacation leave; and opportunities for professional development. Initial Salary Placement, Promoted or transferred employees will be placed as specified in the SPAA – Supervisory & Professional Administrators Association Handbook. This position is FLSA Exempt and may not accrue overtime. A temporary probationary period will be applied to the employee entering this assignment.
