Job Summary
Under the direction of the school Director and school psychologist, the employee will play a significant role in addressing the social and emotional needs and challenges of students. The employee will meet consult with the school psychologist and provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 Mental Health supports. As an employee of Redding STEM Academy (RSTEM), this employee will follow the responsibilities and procedures as delineated in the RSTEM Personnel Handbook. EDUCATION PROGRAMS • Work with individual students on social, emotional, and behavioral issues that may affect their school experience • Will respond directly to students who express social and emotional needs based on teacher observation, student needs assessments, and student self-expressed needs • Advise faculty regarding individual student issues, classroom interventions • Collaborate with outside professionals as needed to support students and families • Serve as a resource for students who need emotional support • Facilitate student support groups • Provide social skills training as needed • Communicate with parents through a variety of means • Attend core staff meetings and advisory board meetings, as requested • Appear and conduct themselves as a positive role model • Maintain a safe environment for students • Respond appropriately to feedback given by parents and students • Maintain student confidentiality
