Job Summary
Job Summary
The Santa Cruz COE Post-Senior program is available to students aged 18-22 after completion of their high school special education program. Our goal is to assist students in determining their own educational, independent living, and vocational goals while supporting their transition into adulthood. IEP goals and services are driven by the student’s Post Secondary Goals based on age-appropriate assessments related to: Training/Education, Employment and, where appropriate, Independent Living Skills. Our program assists students in maintaining and acquiring functional academic skills. Students also work on social skills, communication, problem solving, self-determination, self-advocacy, safety, mobility training, and overall independent living skills. These skills are applied and practiced in real life settings as students are out in the community with staff.
Requirements / Qualifications
$7,000 Signing Bonus to classroom teacher candidates who posses an intern, Preliminary or Clear credential. To be eligible for the signing bonus, a contract must be signed on or before August 1, 2023. This position will be assigned to a Post Senior class at Soquel High School. License or Certificate: Possession of an appropriate California Special Education Teaching Credential, i.e., Educational Specialist – Moderate Severe Disabilities, Extensive Support Needs OR Specialist Instruction, Severely Handicapped. Must have EL Authorization and Autism Authorization Experience and Training Guidelines: Any combination equivalent to experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be qualifying. Possession of a B.A. Degree supplemented by recent teaching experience including experience and/or training within the domain of the required credential.
MA (pro-rated) stipend $1,500; Doctorate (pro-rated) stipend $400. Fully paid dental and vision insurance covering both employee and dependents. The employee is also provided with long-term disability insurance and life insurance. Medical benefits: There is an employee paid portion for medical benefits depending upon the medical plan chosen which covers employee and dependents.
