Impact Academy Middle Grades seeks a Dean of Students to lead the management of a positive school culture through the use of Restorative practices, culture-building activities, and professional development of staff. Envision graduates go on to succeed in college at significantly higher rates than their peers: 100% of our graduates are accepted to two- or four-year colleges, with up to 85% accepted to four-year institutions. THE POSITION The Dean of Students will be responsible for leading the management of a positive school culture through the use of Restorative practices, culture-building activities, and professional development of staff. The Dean of Students is expected to serve as a thought partner to the Principal and Vice Principal in building systems and structures for student success, supporting the growth of the school through external partnership and enrollment activities, and the support of teachers. THE POSITION

The Dean of Students is expected to serve as a thought partner to the Principal and Vice Principal in building systems and structures for student success, supporting the growth of the school through external partnership and enrollment activities, and the support of teachers. The Dean of Students works with a high level of independence and professional discretion under the general supervision of the Principal.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
School Culture Leadership
- Create a vibrant and positive school culture that supports student learning and deep relationships between students and staff.
- With the site Leadership Team, ensure students are respectful and on-task, supervise school-wide management systems, and develop a rich and supportive school environment that is tangibly felt by everyone on campus.
- Serve as the first point of contact for student issues regarding disciplinary and academic concerns for all grade levels.
- Facilitate training of faculty and staff as it pertains to restorative practices, conflict mediation, Positive Behavior Intervention Services (PBIS), behavior management, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Facilitate WASC/LCAP data and evidence collection as it pertains to key state priorities areas, school-wide goals, and a focus on inclusive support for all learners.
- Supervise before school, lunch, passing, and dismissal.
- Attend evening and weekend events.
- Actively participate in weekly admin meetings and special meetings (such as KPI).
Student and Family Engagement
- Partner in the development and management of outreach to parents, faculty, and staff.
- Facilitate parent workshops on a variety of topics that support and develop parent education, awareness, and concrete steps for parents to support their child’s successful navigation through Envision, as well as, provide and explain student data and the implications on student learning results.
- Oversee school-wide community-building activities.
- Develop and implement a strategy to proactively address attendance trends including chronic absenteeism or other attendance issues that impact learning.
- Act as the point person for agencies and programs interested in partnering with Envision, and help to broker new partnerships that are aligned with the school’s mission and goals.
- Coordinate, plan, and attend evening and weekend events as needed.
Systems Development and Management
- Manage student management systems for behavior, discipline, and academic data.
- Manage policies outlined in the student/parent-guardian handbook.
- Develop, organize, and disseminate daily, weekly, monthly, grading period, and annual reports (depending on the item) of academic, social-emotional, disciplinary, and social data.
- Oversee development of school site culture calendar, log all events on reporting tools.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Commitment to the mission of Envision Education
- Commitment to anti-racist and pro-Black ideologies in the workplace
- Experience building and designing systems from scratch
- B.A. or B.S. required
- M.A. and/or Administrative Credential preferred
- At least 5 years of highly successful K-12 education experience in an urban setting
- Successful team leadership experience with a track record of excellent results
- Experience leading adults to accomplish ambitious goals in the face of challenging obstacles.
- Demonstrated ability to affect positive organizational change.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Competitive pay with benefits, pay commensurate with education and experience range $80,000-$90,000. This is a 12 month role.
