Job Summary

Job Summary

Working within the Student Programs & Services Department, the English Learner Teacher on Special Assignment plans, organizes, and directs instructional services for English Language Development (ELD) in partnership with school principals and educators to improve outcomes for students in Alameda County Office of Education’s Court and Community Schools. The English Learner Teacher on Special Assignment will collaborate with instructional staff to provide coaching support, professional learning opportunities, and technical assistance related to culturally and linguistically responsive teaching practices in reading and writing instruction, reading intervention, reading across the content areas, and ELD for Multilingual Learners. Additionally, this position works collaboratively with staff in order to oversee the administration of English Learner state assessments and other Title I requirements. The position also maintains documentation of identified English Learner student groups’ progress towards improving language acquisition as measured by the ELPAC Summative.

Requirements / Qualifications

Credential -Valid California Elementary or Single subject Teaching credential based on a bachelor’s degree with a BCLAD, CLAD, or other EL authorization credential -Minimum five (5) years ELA/ELD experience at a school or district office or other organization leading successful district and/or school improvement efforts -Experience supporting the interpretation and implementation of the ELA/ELD Common Core State Standards -Previous experience administering and/or coordinating the ELPAC Summative and Initial state assessments -Proven track record of delivering effective trainings and presentations -Previous experience in alternative education schools preferred -Bilingual in Spanish preferred - CPR and First Aid certificate required. - Valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation, and an acceptable driving record
