Position Details:

MiraCosta College is accepting applications for Community Education Lecturers.

Applications are valid through June 30, 2024, at which time they will expire. A new posting for this pool will be posted on July 1, 2024, and those still interested will need to reapply at that time.

IMPORTANT: MiraCosta College requires that all employees be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to promote a safe and healthful workplace for employees and to promote the health and safety of our campus community. RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT:

MiraCosta College Board Policy 7800: Employee Residency requires all classified staff, administrators, and temporary/hourly short-term employees to maintain and permanently reside in a principal place of residence in the state of California that is within two-hundred (200) road miles from the employee's regularly assigned district worksite. The purpose of the policy is to promote efficiency and continuity throughout all campus administrative functions, provide students with high quality assistance and accessibility to all academic and campus services, ensure that students receive an engaging education, and respond to emerging student needs.

Community Education Lecturers who have a fully online assignment with the District must reside within the state of California, but may live beyond two-hundred (200) road miles from their designated District worksite without requiring the exception detailed below.

The District may consider an individual request to temporarily reside outside of the State of California or outside the 200-mile limit on a case-by-case basis, not to exceed twelve consecutive months.

Salary Range: To be determined.

Compensation: $35 – $60 per hour, depending on course topic and experience.

Employees must make arrangements for the direct deposit of paychecks into the financial institution of their choice, via electronic fund transfer.

Benefits:

Short-term, temporary employees may be eligible for Healthy Families Sick Leave, and enrollment in a retirement system.

*Individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks or more after they have received the second dose in a 2-dose series (e.g., Pfizer-BioNTech Monovalent or Moderna Monovalent); or two weeks or more after they have received a single-dose vaccine (e.g., Johnson and Johnson [J&J/Janssen]); or two weeks or more after they have received a single-dose bivalent vaccine (e.g., Pfizer-BioNTech Bivalent or Moderna Bivalent).

Retired STRS members are not eligible for this position.

Instructors must have experience teaching more than 10 students at a time, love your field of expertise and want to share while doing hands-on projects.

Instructors who are personable, enthusiastic, patient, and who have excellent communication skills.

Instructors must be able to work one-on-one and with small groups of students.

It is imperative that the instructor is professional and ethical at all times.

We are offering a unique opportunity for instructors and/or subject matter experts to teach creative new classes and programs in arts, enrichments, children & teens, computers, and business.

If selected, the instructor will need to complete a new course proposal form including his/her curriculum.
