LAUSD Division of Instruction is now accepting applications for the position of Interventionist, Middle School. The Interventionist, Middle School provides direct services to students in English Language Arts at high-need schools, primarily at the middle grades level, to build the capacity of others in the areas of literacy across the curriculum. The Interventionist, Middle School will support the implementation of a Multi-tiered System of Support (MTSS) that includes direct instruction and intervention, model lessons, and engaging professional development on the implementation of effective literacy strategies and Tier 1 and Tier 2 interventions in the classroom. Primary Duties/Responsibilities: - Provides direct instruction, demonstrates, and models effective instructional practices for teaching reading, including differentiated small group instruction and tier 2 interventions. - Provides targeted and differentiated support based on identified needs, coaching, and follow-up, including co-teaching and co-planning. - Incorporates a structured analytical, student-centered approach to building the capacity of school teams to identify and support all students struggling with reading, including those showing signs of dyslexia. - Supports schools in implementing their district-adopted curriculum and the Reading Apprenticeship Framework. - Supports schools in infusing social-emotional learning and behavior supports into instruction to build a growth mindset and self-efficacy for student's struggling in reading. - Supports schools in data analysis by using multiple benchmark measurements, such as assessments, diagnostic assessments, and progress monitoring data, to provide targeted instruction and intervention for students that supports growth along the continuum of literacy development. - Supports schools in leveraging online learning platforms and district data systems to implement multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) that utiliz

Minimum Requirements: - Five (5) years of successful full-time public school certificated service as a teacher, with no less than two (2) years of which must have been as a teacher at the secondary level. - One of the following valid California teaching credentials or authorizations which permits teaching in the subject area of English: o Single Subject Teaching Credential in English o Supplementary Authorization in English (requires 20 semester units of eligible coursework) o Introductory Subject Matter Authorization in English (requires 32 semester units of eligible coursework) o Middle School Authorization in English (requires 12 semester units of eligible coursework) o Limited Assignment Permit in English - English Learner Authorization o English Language Development Authorization: o Full English Learner Authorization (BCLAD, BCC, CLAD, LDS) o Embedded English Learner Authorization (ELA1, CLAD, BCLAD) o Supplementary Authorization in English as a Second Language o Emergency CLAD Permit
Salary: Teacher Preparation Salary Table; B Basis + Differential; 221 paid days, 8-hour onsite assignment obligation
