St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Elementary School in Petaluma, CA is looking for a Religion Teacher/Coord to round out their team. The teacher/coordinator is entrusted directly with the spiritual preparation of students, fostering knowledge, skills, and understanding of Catholic teachings. The teacher/coordinator is further entrusted with the student’s social and personal growth, providing guidance and examples that promote Catholic values, responsible behavior, and self-fulfillment. The teacher/coordinator may also be responsible for coordinating religious activities for the school and creating a school culture that fosters our Catholic identity. Duties may also include oversight of religious events that are already scheduled. Other responsibilities may include oversight and tracking of current religion curriculum assessments for the school. The teacher/coordinator performs this trust in cooperation with the parents, who are the primary educators of their children, with the assistance of support staff when needed and under the direction of the school’s administration. The ideal candidate is: -Faithful and practicing -Committed to the school mission and philosophy -Successful experience working with children -Effective classroom management skills -Familiarity with Catholic Catechism -Experience with differentiated instruction, and working with students who have diverse learning needs and abilities -Ability to utilize and integrate technology in a classroom environment if needed -Excellent verbal and written communication skills -Ability to lead with patience, discretion, and being a team player
