CLASS TITLE: YOUTH ENRICHMENT SITE COORDINATOR BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Youth Enrichment District Coordinator, organize and direct the development and implementation of the Youth Enrichment program and related after-school activities at an assigned school site; coordinate communications, resources and personnel to meet student needs and assure smooth and efficient Program operations and activities; train and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Organize and direct the development and implementation of the Youth Enrichment program and related after-school activities at an assigned school site; coordinate operations and activities to provide a safe after-school learning environment for students; assure school site Program activities comply with established laws, codes, rules and regulations. Coordinate communications, resources and personnel to meet student needs and assure smooth and efficient Program operations and activities; collaborate with administrators, staff, community organizations and others in the development and implementation of the school site Program, after-school activities and extended learning opportunities to meet student needs and District standards. Train and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; interview and select employees and recommend transfers, reassignment, termination and disciplinary actions; oversee student workers and volunteers; assure employee understanding of Program policies, procedures and objectives. Schedule, arrange, oversee and conduct a variety of after-school functions including recreational, athletic and educational functions; coordinate activities and personnel to provide academic support, tutoring, literacy development and homework assistance to students enrolled in the Program; prepare and arrange monthly event calendars. Organize, direct and participate in the observation and control of student behavior during Program activities according to established policies and procedures; assure proper and timely resolution of student behavior issues; oversee student attendance functions and maintain related records. Establish and maintain contact with community organizations, parents and the public to promote involvement in after-school programs and activities; coordinate activities and direct involvement with community organizations and volunteers. Monitor and evaluate the Youth Enrichment program and related after-school activities for educational effectiveness and operational efficiency; respond to staff and community input concerning program needs and issues; assist in the development and implementation of program activities, standards and procedures to enhance educational effectiveness and operational efficiency. Communicate with administrators, personnel and outside organizations to coordinate activities and programs, resolve issues and conflicts and exchange information. Assure adequate resources and facilities to meet Program needs; arrange for facilities and order supplies and equipment as necessary; provide snacks for students. Prepare and maintain a variety of records and reports related to the Youth Enrichment program, after-school activities, students, incidents, accidents, registration fees, volunteers, snacks, personnel and assigned activities. Operate a variety of office equipment including a copier, computer and assigned software. Oversee the collection of student registration fees as directed. Attend and conduct various meetings as assigned; coordinate and conduct employee training sessions; prepare related support materials. OTHER DUTIES: Perform related duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: KNOWLEDGE OF: Youth Enrichment program operations and activities including recreational, athletic and educational functions. Community resources and volunteer services related to the Youth Enrichment program. Instructional techniques and strategies related to after-school programs. Curriculum interpretation and application in after-school programs. Policies and objectives of assigned programs and activities. District and State guidelines and requirements concerning after-school programs. Practices and procedures involved in the development and implementation of after-school programs, activities and extended learning opportunities. Oral and written communication skills. Principles and practices of supervision and training. Applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy. Operation of a computer and assigned software. Record-keeping and report preparation techniques. Basic public relations techniques. ABILITY TO: Organize and direct the development and implementation of the Youth Enrichment program and related after-school activities at an assigned school site. Coordinate communications, resources and personnel to meet student needs and assure smooth and efficient Program operations and activities. Train and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel. Schedule, arrange, oversee and conduct a variety of after-school functions including recreational, athletic and educational functions. Plan and organize work. Maintain records and prepare reports. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: This Class must meet the requirements of the Federal and State “No Child Left Behind” NCLB legislation. Qualifications are any combination equivalent to 48 semester units of college study or an AA Degree or upon passing a NCLB qualifying written examination, supplemented by college-level course work in child development or related field and two years increasingly responsible experience in an educational or recreational program. WORKING CONDITIONS: ENVIRONMENT: Indoor and outdoor work environment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard. Seeing to read a variety of materials. Sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Hearing and speaking to exchange information and make presentations. Bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching to assist students. Walking. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES Possession of a valid first aid certificate required prior to completion of probationary period.
