VISTA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT CERTIFICATED JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE OF POSITION: Coordinator, PBIS A. Primary Function: Under direction of Student Services, the Coordinator is responsible for facilitating and managing Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) services provided through the Vista Unified School District. This position performs duties designed to support schools in the District in implementing the PBIS framework, providing technical assistance, designing, implementing, and identifying professional development opportunities, modifying curriculum and instruction to meet the needs of all student learners, and providing coaching and mentoring on effective practices for all students. B. Directly Responsible to: Executive Director, Student Services C. Representative Duties: Provides leadership in the identification, design, dissemination, implementation, and evaluation of promising /best practices in PBIS and Restorative Practices. E Designs, implements, and provides professional development, family/community engagement, and student advocacy activities and projects for school sites. E Promotes the use and integration of new/emerging technologies which support, accelerate, and sustain student learning and achievement. E Monitors assigned program activities conducted by individual school sites. E Establishes and maintains open channels of communication and professional relationships with district and site leaders, teachers, parents and other school/district personnel. E Facilitates meetings, professional development and group processes for various audiences. E Collects and interprets data for decision making and progress monitoring to assess needs of students, the school, and the community. Plans and facilitates various community committees and networks. E Establishes and evaluates goals, priorities, processes, and systems for the effective delivery of behavioral programs, systems, and tools. E Supports site administrators with investigations, discipline, appropriate courses of action, and hearings for behavior concerns and parent complaints. E Collaborates with school staff and community members on district leadership teams and school and community officials regarding crisis response efforts. E Travels to various sites to conduct functions related to the coordinator position. Attends a variety of meetings to maintain current knowledge of legislation and requirements;conduct and facilitate meetings. 14. Ensures compliance with State, Federal and County office regulation. 15. Performs other related duties as assigned. D. Education and Experience: Valid California Administrative Services Credential Clear California Teaching Credential Valid California driver’s license Five (5) years of successful teaching and/or administrative experience Completion of a Master’s Degree E. Qualifications: Knowledge of: Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) Academic instructional practices and strategies Culturally and linguistically responsive and relevant teaching School climate Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) Program evaluation and research techniques, strategies, and procedures Conflict resolution procedures Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy; applicable sections of the State Education Code and other applicable laws Abilities to: Communicate effectively orally and in writing Work in a diverse socio-economic and multicultural community Maintain consistent, punctual and regular attendance Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff Assist students in effectively analyzing and developing alternative solutions to behavioral, educational, social and emotional problems and concerns Plan, organize, and coordinate PBIS for the district Conduct, support, and supervise various discipline hearings Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents Work independently with little direction and use technology effectively Strong interpersonal, leadership, and motivational skills F. Salary: Range 25 H. Work Year: 215 days
