REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Education and Experience:
  • Any combination equivalent to one year of experience in food service activities
  • Courses in food service preparation, sanitation, and safety are desirable
  • Knowledge of Federal guidelines for nutrition
  • Completion of formal or informal education sufficient to assure the ability to read, write, verbally communicate at the level required to perform the duties of the job safely and successfully

• Abilities:
  • To work effectively with Food Service Worker II
  • Organize and coordinate supplies
  • Communicate food guidelines with students
  • Follow oral and written instructions
  • Work independently
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Set out cleaning supplies, garbage/recycling cans, milk buckets
• Help stock salad bar repeatedly through lunch period
• Ensure students are meeting federal guidelines for food offerings as they exit lunch line
• Supervise trash/recycling at end of grades K-2 lunch and assist with clean-up of lunchroom as needed
• Supervise Green Team and end of grades 3-5 lunch and assist with clean-up of lunchroom as needed
• Other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL EFFORT/WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

• Indoor work in the school kitchen
• Perform light to moderate work while setting up food display, carrying food products
• Tasks include lifting up to 15 pounds occasionally, stooping, bending, noise, odors, and lifting
