Job Summary
New Los Angeles Charter Schools (New LA) is seeking a passionate, well organized special education leader to ensure that students identified with special needs reach ambitious IEP goals and make significant progress toward school-wide goals. This educational leader will collaborate with the Director to oversee all services and compliance reporting related to special education, in addition to ensuring that all students are afforded the appropriate FAPE in the appropriate LRE. The Assistant Director of Special Education will oversee Resource Teachers and service providers at the direction of the Director. We are seeking a leader with experience working with Welligent and the LAUSD SELPA and whose practices are rooted in anti-racist, culturally responsive pedagogy.
Requirements / Qualifications
In order to be considered for this position at New LA, candidates must: Possess an MA or above in Education (CA Administrative Services credential preferred, CA Education Specialist credential preferred); Have experience working with diverse student populations and the ability to serve as a culturally responsive instructional leader; Have teaching and/or administrative experience at the elementary and/or middle school level; Demonstrate teaching expertise, including differentiated instruction and student-centered methodologies; Have experience with special education, English Learners, and data analysis; Unwavering commitment to social justice and intersectional anti-racism; Be committed to the mission and values of New LA and able to articulate commitment to the mission; Have a positive outlook, enjoy collaborating with colleagues and appreciate different points of view; Spanish speaker preferred, but not required.
