DEAN OF STUDENTS
The position of Dean serves in a staff capacity to assist the Principal in carrying out the duties of his/her office. The specific duties of a Dean will be assigned by the Principal in agreement with the statement of qualifications and the job description for the approved position(s).
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Under the direct supervision of the Superintendent or his/her Designee, the Dean will perform specific duties to assist the Principal in carrying out the duties of his/her office.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
1. Assist in scheduling of students and assist with the master schedule
2. Assist in the development and help maintain an adequate public relations program.
3. Check on absent students (i.e., attendance communication).
4. Complete all requested reports as requested.
5. Discipline and counsel at assigned grade level(s), including conferencing with parents and teacher assistance practices.
6. Prepare year-end list of equipment, supply and maintenance needs.
7. Consult with Principal on subjects, as needed.
8. Maintain proper home/school relationships.
9. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Principal.
10. Resolve all 48900 referrals cases.
11. Supervise lunch duty and will function as a roving proctor.
12. Resolve classroom/campus disruptions.
13. Work with Athletic Director and coaches.
14. Show high visibility before and after-school.
15. Will be responsible for the overall management/supervision of the school site which provide for a safe campus.
16. Responsible for disaster preparation program. (scheduling and conducting fire/disaster drills).
17. Other duties as assigned
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
1. Ability to counsel with students.
2. Ability to communicate effectively with staff, parents and students.
3. Technical knowledge of student and master scheduling.
4. Ability to utilize appropriate management and leadership skills, including problem-solving techniques.
5. Ability to organize time efficiently.
6. Ability to successfully communicate with all types of children.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Possession of a valid California Administrative Service credential appropriate to the grade levels to be administered.
2. Possession of current First Aid and CPR certification.
