Job Summary
ACCESS offers multiple instructional learning environments to help students find their personal path in education and provide individualized, targeted, and differentiated instruction with standards-based curriculum and assessments. ACCESS is committed to individual student success. Student placement is determined by administration at the time of enrollment based on the academic needs and personal circumstances of each student. Title I: Academic Support Assistants (ASA) provide quality, supplementary academic assistance. This research-based program is built on the proven efficacy of individual academic assistance for students. The students served, often have a history of trauma and can be reluctant to academic support. Students generally display behavioral problems that can result in serious consequences such as truancies, expulsions, and court records. Involvement with the foster care system, gangs, substance abuse, and/or criminal records often plays a part in the lives of the youth we work with. Students educated through this program may be incarcerated youth who are detained at a detention or treatment facility or reside in a 24-hour residential facility managed by social services. The first priority of a Title I ASA is to motivate students to be active participants in their education. Title I ASAs will conduct individual assessments that become the basis for the development of academic goals and instructional lesson plans. Ongoing training and support are provided for ASA staff to ensure quality service delivery. Title III: The English Learner Services team at ACCESS has two primary goals, to ensure English Learners (EL) achieve proficiency in English and learn the academic English necessary for school, career, and life success. Title III ASAs provide supplemental support both inside and outside the classroom to our EL learners. This support is provided in one-on-one, small group or whole-class settings. ASA's responsibilities include supporting teachers
