Job Summary

Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Deputy Director, the Facilities Coordinator will plan, implement, and coordinate an effective and efficient facilities program. Will be responsible for all facilities and building systems, maintenance, and operations. The Facilities Coordinator will also liaise between the District, community-based organizations, and the school site in developing and administering maintenance/landscaping. The primary focus of this position is to ensure a safe, secure, equipped, functional, and clean school facility in a fiscally sound and compliant manner.

Requirements / Qualifications

Knowledge of: Federal, local, state, and site safety and security policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. Effective response in emergency situations. Record keeping and supply/inventory procedures. Planning, organization, and technical aspects of facilities planning functions. Applicable building codes, ordinances, fire regulations, and safety precautions. Health and Safety regulations. Research and projection techniques and procedures. Oral and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy. Operation of a computer and assigned software. Ability to: Aid in the design of appropriate, effective, efficient, and safe facilities. Listen and analyze problems and develop solutions. Establish and maintain effective working relationships. Read and comprehend a variety of general and technical materials. Communicate mechanical matters, including plumbing, electrical, boiler, heating, and air conditioning. Aid in the design of appropriate, effective, efficient, and safe facilities. Effective group process and facilitation skills and public relations techniques. Enter data into a computer terminal and operate standard office equipment. Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone with or without hearing aids. See and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aids. See, hear, and speak with/without assistive devices sufficient to communicate effectively with others.

Education and Experience: High school Diploma (required). Associate degree or higher education from an accredited college or university (preferred). Minimum of 3 years of experience as a licensed contractor or other qualifying work experience, including in public education setting. Other requirements: Possession of a valid California driver’s license.

Hazards: Working at heights Working around and with machinery having moving parts.
