JOB PURPOSE STATEMENT: The Elementary School Counselor works in collaboration with the Principal, Director II of Elementary Curriculum and Instruction, and Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Support Services, to provide counseling services to TK-5th grade students. The Elementary School Counselor helps all students apply academic achievement strategies, manage emotions and apply interpersonal skills, and plan for postsecondary options. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: Incumbents may perform any combination of the essential functions shown below. Requirements / Qualifications
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree, Graduate degree in school counseling, inclusive of 48 semester units in a Commission-approved professional preparation program specializing in school counseling, including a practicum with school-aged children. DOCUMENTS REQUIRED: Applicants are required to submit the following through Ed-Join prior to the position closing date/time: • Edjoin application • Letter of interest • Three current professional letters of reference dated within the last 12 months • Resume • Copy of California teaching credential(s) (or equivalent) - PPS (School Counseling) Credential • Copy of transcripts • Copy of test scores CREDENTIALS/CERTIFICATIONS: Pupil Personnel Services Credential in School Counseling required. Multiple Subject Teaching Credential desirable. NOTE: PLEASE UPLOAD THE DETAILED CTC DOCMENT TO SHOW AUTHORIZATION.
EXPERIENCE: Three (3) or more years working in a school setting; Professional counseling experience, preferably in a public-school setting working with children desirable.

$63,384 to $137,820 (depending on qualifications and experience), plus a generous health and welfare package. Up to 12 years maximum service credit given. (Maximum entry-level salary $120,564)
