Job Summary
Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Support Services/ Designee, this position is responsible for providing leadership in the area of Reading and Language Arts and supporting the academic needs of all students. Lead the development of Reading/Language Arts instructional programs, facilitating and developing staff development, supporting teachers and ensures the effective implementation of the California State Standards and adopted curriculum. LEUSD is seeking dynamic individuals who possess the following skills/qualities: • Interpret and use data to improve student achievement and inform instruction to promote academic proficiency for all students. • Travel to multiple sites throughout the district and to county locations. • Collaborate with site administrators, teachers, and other instructional staff. • Model effective teaching strategies. • Organize and coordinate schedules. • Communicate effectively both in writing and speaking. • Analyze situations accurately and the ability to adopt an effective course of action. • Work independently. • Travel to various locations during the workday and be present on school sites. • Expand and develop services to address needs in designated area of responsibility. • Exercises independent judgment in the use and interpretation of District policies and procedures. • Prioritizes and manages a variety of complex tasks and analyzes situations accurately and adopts an effective course of action. Responsibilities to Include: • Work with teachers, principals, and other instructional management personnel to ensure a consistent, cohesive, and carefully articulated instructional program across all sites and levels. • Assist the Directors of Curriculum and Instruction in the coordination of ELA Curriculum for Grades TK-12. • Serve as a Reading and Language Arts consultant to site administrators and teachers. • Support teachers in unit and lesson planning. • Model lessons as appropria

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Education Required: Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in a related field required; Doctorate desirable. Experience Required: Minimum five (5) years of successful teaching and/or administrative experience required. Licenses, Certifications, Bonding and/or Testing Required: Valid Administrative Services Credential (required); Valid CA Driver’s License and evidence of insurability; Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance, and negative pre-employment drug screen test/negative TB results.
