Position:  High School Assistant Principal/Curriculum,    Instruction and Guidance

Work Year: 210

Department/Site: San Marino High School

FLSA:  Certificated

Reports to/Evaluated by: Principal   

Salary Grade:  K-531

 

Summary

 

Under the direction of the Principal, directs, oversees, and manages the school-wide program of counseling services, student wellness, special education, career and technical education pathways/programs and student assessments and instruction; manages, supervises, evaluates and oversees all assigned school and student programs and personnel; and all other related areas.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

 

  • Build capacity of the counseling department to provide superior services to students’ in line with District goals and objectives.

 

  • Leads planning, monitoring, and evaluation of the District’s certificated and classified counseling and special education departments including educational and administrative functions.

 

  • Manages a comprehensive budget system for all departmental expenditures and revenues.

 

  • Collaborates with the principal in the selection, supervision, and evaluation of the high school’s certificated and classified support staff.

 

  • Develops the master schedule in cooperation with the high school principal.

 

  • Plans, organizes, and directs the selection, development, implementation, training and support of instructional programs, materials and related tools.

 

  • Meets periodically and as required with department staff and high school principal to monitor progress, implement programs and provide feedback.

 

  • Serves as a liaison between parents, students’ and administration.

 

  • Meets with college representatives and maintains positive relationships with key decision makers.

 

  • Prepares and maintains current data and correspondence related to college and career planning.

 

  • Hosts and facilities parent meetings as required.

 

  • Supervises and mentors new teachers, counselors, and all other certificated specialists.

 

  • Assists high school principal with the evaluation and supervision of certificated staff as assigned.

 

  • Coordinates student recognition programs.
  • Serves as Special Population Coordinator.
  • Prepares and presents reports as directed.
  • All other duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of Google Suite and MS office platforms/programs.

 

 

Education and Experience

A Master’s Degree in Pupil Personnel Services, Educational Administration or related field and possession of an administrative credential and/or registration in an accredited administrative credential program.  Experience as both a high school counselor and assistant principal is highly desirable.

 

Licenses and Certificates

Possesses a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.

A Master's Degree in Pupil Personnel Services, Educational Administration or related field and possession of an administrative credential and/or registration in an accredited administrative credential program. Experience as both a high school counselor and assistant principal is highly desirable.
