TITLE OF POSITION: NUTRITION SERVICES LEAD DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Under the direction of the Executive Director and Director of Nutrition Services, provides coverage of food service operation, maintains an inventory and completes jobs efficiently within budget guidelines, and maximizes the efficiency of the work force and meets staff requirements. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Prepares food and beverage items that meet mandated nutritional requirements for the purpose of general consumption by students and providing items to other school personnel. Serves one or more items of food for the purpose of meeting requests of students and school personnel. Stocks food, condiments and supplies for the purpose of maintaining adequate quantities and security of items. Estimates food preparation amounts for the purpose of meeting projected meal requirements and minimizing waste. Inspects one or more items of food and/or supplies for the purpose of verifying the quantity and specifications of orders. Cleans utensils, equipment and the areas of storage, food preparation and serving for the purpose of maintaining facilities in a sanitary condition. Prepares documentation for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information. Procures equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining an inventory and completing jobs efficiently within budget guidelines. Menu planning, nutrition, and federal breakfast and lunch program requirements; Basic arithmetic, record keeping, and money handling procedures utilizing electronic point of sale equipment or mental processes; Methods and procedures for requisitioning, receiving, and storing of foodstuffs and supplies; Leadership techniques. Orders food and supplies as necessary. Provides input into performance evaluations if requested.
