Definition: Under general supervision of the site administrator, to perform the duty of escorting school children safely across designated street intersections, direct parking lot traffic, and to perform related duties as required.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Escort children across street at designated locations, using due caution and displaying crossing sign.
2. Prevent children from crossing street during the flow of traffic until it is safe to cross.
3. Reports to the principal the license numbers of cars failing to stop for children when signaled to do so.
4. Reports unusual, unsafe, dangerous, or improper conduct.
5. Notifies police, school authorities, and ambulance, if necessary of any injuries or accidents at designated crossing.
6. Directs traffic flow in school parking lot.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
• Traffic regulations, especially those pertaining to pedestrians
• Stopping distances of moving vehicles
• Student behavior management strategies and techniques
• School rules
Ability to:
1. Demonstrate an understanding, patient and receptive attitude toward elementary age children.
2. Communicate effectively in oral form.
3. Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
4. Display sufficient stamina to permit performance of duties in inclement weather.
5. Be tactful and helpful under unfavorable or difficult situations.
6. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with children and adults.
7. Memorize details and incidents accurately
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position classification must perform in carrying out essential job functions.
• Persons performing service in this position classification will exert 25 to 50 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
• This type of work involves walking or standing for extended periods.
• Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral information, are important aspects of this job.
• Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid or windy conditions caused by weather will occasionally be experienced.
• Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable a person with a disability to perform the essential functions of the job.
EDUCATION:
• High school graduate
EXPERIENCE:
• Paid or volunteer experience working with elementary age children.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
• Fingerprint clearance required
• TB clearance required

- CPR/First Aid Certification (If you do not have current certification, please include documentation to verify that you will be taking a class soon.)
- Letter of Introduction
- Letter(s) of Recommendation (Include 2 letters that are dated less than 2 years ago)
- Proof of HS Graduation (Copy of HS Diploma or HS Transcripts with graduation date)
- Resume
