POSITION DETAILS The Fullerton School District is seeking qualified individuals for consideration as part-time Health Assistant positions to perform routine healthcare procedures; administer first aid; assist students in taking prescribed medications; input, review and maintain records and information related to students and health programs; and perform clerical duties as assigned. To be considered for any Health Assistant Bilingual openings, candidates must speak fluently in both English and Spanish and for any Bilingual/Biliterate openings, candidates must speak, read and write fluently in both English and Spanish. This opportunity is a 6.0-hour/day, 10.42/month position with paid holidays, sick leave and vacation. The District offers a comprehensive package of health benefits, dental, vision and life insurance for positions with assigned weekly work hours that exceed 20 hours/week. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience: One year of paid experience performing first aid care and routine healthcare procedures and clerical experience. Health office experience in a school environment is preferred. Certificates: Valid First Aid and a CPR Certificates issued by the American Red Cross are required and must be attached. The most ideal candidates will have a knowledge of and the ability to do the following (for a more detailed list, please refer to the Job Description attached): First aid principles, practices, procedures and appropriately respond to and handle medical emergencies; Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) procedures and ability to perform First Aide and CPR procedures; maintain confidentiality of student's health information; school office procedures and practices; regulations, policies, procedures, practices related to school health programs and services; suspected child abuse reporting requirements; effectively work in a team environment.
EXAMINATION PROCEDURES This is a merged promotional and open competitive recruitment. The examination may consist of a training and experience (supplemental responses) evaluation, written test, performance test and/or structured oral interview. Your written responses to the supplemental questions may be evaluated as a test part in the recruitment examination process to determine the most qualified candidates. To qualify to be placed on an eligibility list, a candidate must obtain a passing score on each part of the examination. Final scores will be obtained by combining the relative weights of scores on each part of the examination. If Veteran's credit is claimed, proof of status (DD214) must be submitted to the Classified Personnel Commission Office at the same time the application form is submitted or prior to testing. The life of the eligibility list will be twelve (12) months and will be used to fill anticipated and future vacancies. An eligibility list is also being established for future part-time openings for both the Non Bilingual and Bilingual Biliterate/Spanish positions. Date of Examination The date of the examination(s) will be announced at a later date.
