THE POSITION: The job of Orientation & Assessment Technician is done for the purpose/s of performing assessment, orientation, instruction, supervision and tutoring of students; providing clerical support as related to the site administrator; coordinating with internal and external agencies regarding student assessment. This job reports to Assigned Administrator. LOCATION: Butler Academic Center - 2500 Fairmont Dr. San Leandro, CA 94578 SHIFT: Monday - Friday (20 hours/week) 8:00am - 12:00pm TYPICAL DUTIES: Analyzes records of incoming students for the purpose of transferring grades and semester credit hours into the student information system and determining appropriate student placement and needs for services. Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals (e.g. academic needs, vocational abilities, MAP, CELDT, etc.) for the purpose of providing feedback to students, teachers and administration. Communicates with a variety of internal and external individuals (e.g. Foster Youth Services, Alameda County Juvenile Justice Division, Alameda Grand Jury, Butler staff, etc.) for the purpose of providing and/or acquiring accurate and up-to-date information concerning state certification processes, policies, procedures and related legal requirements. Conducts independently, a variety of supporting activities (e.g. S.I.S. student interviews, computer assessments, written assessments, etc.) for the purpose of providing information regarding student assessment results and individual student work plans. Informs students (e.g. Uniform Compliance Procedures, Technology Acceptable Use Policy, assessment needs, etc.) for the purpose of providing information and direction regarding activities, academic needs, safety issues and procedures within the secured facility. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Job related experience is required. High school diploma or equivalent. Prior experience working with high risk student is highly desirable.
