Under the direction of the school dean, this position works collaboratively with the Culinary faculty to ensure the proper operations of the Culinary program. Work schedule is: Monday-Thursday, 7:30 am - 5:00 pm; Friday, 8:00 am-12:00 pm. The selected candidate must be willing to adjust work days/hours based on the program's needs and special events.
Major Responsibilities
• Oversee the operation and maintenance of the culinary laboratory classrooms, main and preparation rooms, and the organic garden.• Manage the inventory of all instructional materials, including food, beverage, cooking ingredients, cleaning and restaurant supplies, and kitchen and restaurant wares to ensure that all courses have the necessary supplies and items.• Maintain laboratory and/or storeroom in a safe, clean, and orderly condition.• Prepare instructional materials and equipment for instructors' demonstrations and student laboratories classes.• Prepare and monitor the Culinary laboratory budgets, including trust and fiduciary funds, and daily POS deposits.• Manage relationships with program vendors to ensure timely and accurate ordering, delivery and payment.• Assist instructors, staff and students in the proper use of equipment.• Assist in the Front of the House Operations during meal periods and special events, including but not limited to 72Fifty breakfast, lunch, and dinner service and events provided by catering.• Test, adjust and maintain equipment in the Culinary lab.• Monitor and work closely with facilities and outside vendors to maintain the integrity of all culinary spaces.• Provide technical assistance in the preparation of specifications for equipment and food and beverage purchases; recommend selection of equipment as requested; may interview vendors to assess new equipment and supplies.• Assist with promotion of the Culinary program at local schools, community events, and on the web and social media platforms.• Assist in the planning, scheduling, and production and special events, including collaborating with other departments, clubs, and community organizations.• Issue and maintain records of lockers, materials, and equipment loaned to students.• Train and furnish work direction to instructional assistants and student assistants.• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Demonstrated experience in the culinary industry including:
• experience with back of the house kitchen operations;• experience ordering food and beverage, including cost controls and purchasing;• experience selecting and recommending vendors and equipment;• knowledge or experience in maintaining equipment and operations in a commercial kitchen;• experience training for front of the house and working with front of the house management;• experience with event and catering operations;• experience planning, scheduling, organizing, and implementing culinary events;
Certification as a SERVSAFE Manager;
Demonstrated ability to understand and follow verbal and written directions;
Demonstrated ability to maintain records and prepare reports;
Demonstrated experience and skill in computer software involving word processing, spreadsheets, and databases; including proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel.
Demonstrated ability to work independently with little direction;
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others including faculty, students, staff, particularly in a high volume environment;
Demonstrated ability to meet schedules and time lines;
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, efficiently, and professionally, verbally and in writing.

Pay Information:
Range 23 ($4,104.63- $6,551.93) per month based on the current Classified salary schedule. New employees will begin on Step A ($4,104.63), Step B ($4,309.87) with 18 months of verified, paid, full-time equivalent related job experience or up to Step C ($4,525.36) with 36 months of verified, paid, full-time equivalent related job experience. For purposes of salary placement, 7.5 semester units (or equivalent quarter units) of directly related coursework from a regularly accredited institution will be equivalent to one (1) year of job experience. Promoted or transferred employees will be placed as specified in the CBA. This position is FLSA Non-exempt (may accrue overtime). Excellent Benefits are provided to all Contract employees with assignments greater than, or equal to, 50% (0.50 FTE) and all eligible dependents. A temporary probationary period will apply to the employee entering this assignment.
