Job Summary
Under direction, analyze and propose work flow processes improvement solutions by means of, modifying existing, supporting the implementation and integration of new, or developing whole applications solutions. Work alone or as part of a team to maximize the effective use of assigned technology applications with a primary focus on end user problem solving and process refinement via the use of existing, new, and custom applications. Independently maintain knowledge of industry best practices for applications life-cycle management, process improvement, and applications development.
Requirements / Qualifications
Experience: Open source software and tools including (but not limited to) linux, command-line tools, scripting languages, databases, version control systems, automated testing and deployment tools; development tools and web services such as code editors, IDEs, SDKs, version control system repos, testing libraries; designing and implementing user interfaces with current technologies such as JavaScript based UI and mobile-app frameworks; updating and using relevant knowledge — keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge in the work place. Education: Graduation required from an accredited two-year college or university with a major in computer science, information technologies, or related field. Work experience resulting in an equivalent knowledge base may be substituted for the formal education requirement. •Each candidate’s application papers and answers to the essay questions contained within the application, will be thoroughly evaluated and ranked by a screening committee appointed by the Kern County Superintendent of Schools. Candidates achieving a rating of 70% or better will qualify to continue in the eligibility screening process.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Some positions may require proof of privately owned automobile insurance and possess a valid California Motor Vehicle operator's license. Fingerprint clearance by both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met. Must present verification of completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training or obtain verification within six (6) weeks of hire and annually thereafter, as required by the California Child Abuse Neglect Reporting Act. For entry-level positions, veterans shall be allowed an additional credit of five points to their composite score. A copy of your DD-214 must be submitted at the time of application to receive veteran’s credit. This position has a probationary period of six months or 130 days, whichever is longer.
