Under the supervision and direction of the Superintendent and Administrative Cabinet, the Middle School Principal oversees all aspects of the daily operations of a school site including developing and monitoring site budgets, developing course curriculum and master schedules, testing, maintenance of student and employee records, and the supervision and evaluation of all staff assigned to the school. The Middle School Principal assigns and directs the work of assistant administrators and support staff to monitor student attendance, implementation of specific student services and programming, supervision and discipline, facility maintenance, communications, and community access and involvement with the school. The Middle School Principal also serves as the Superintendent's designee and representative in matters related to compliance and implementation of site specific operations, the District's strategic plan, board policy, and state and federal regulations regarding non-discriminatory practices and the safe and efficient management of a school campus.

PRINCIPAL - MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL PRIMARY FUNCTION: To serve as the chief executive officer of the school with total responsibility to manage all aspects of the school, including the general control and supervision of all certificated and classified employees assigned to serve in the school; and the total operation of the school. RESPONSIBILITIES: The school principal shall: a. coordinate with the Director of Curriculum and Educational Services the evaluation and the improvement of the instructional programs (including guidance) at the school; b. coordinate with Director of Curriculum and Educational Services the curriculum and staff development needs of all staff at the school; c. be responsible for developing the master schedule; d. supervise and evaluate the performance of all certificated and classified personnel assigned to the school in accordance with the master contracts and district policies; e. cooperate with District Superintendent and Administrative Assistant of Human Resources in the selection, orientation, and assignment of all staff; f. maintain and improve communication between the school and home; and the school and community; g. develop, with staff, the fiscal budget of the school for all programs; h. recommend to Director of Administrative and Support Services the fiscal needs of the school with justification for each; i. develop viable advisory committees; j. be responsible for a positive school climate; k. be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the school plant; l. submit reports on the operation of the school as required; m. attend all school board meetings; n. administer the school discipline and controls program; o. administer the school's activities and athletic programs; p. perform other duties as assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: Qualifies for an Administrative Credential or is in an Administrative Program leading to an Administrative Credential. Experience: A minimum of three years of teaching experience and a minimum of two years as a site administrator. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS • Bilingual/Spanish • Knowledge and use of computers and technology • Knowledge of laws relating to minors SUPERVISION The principal is responsible to the District Superintendent. Education: * Master's Degree and valid California Administrative Services Credential Experience: * Five years of experience as a credentialed teacher or counselor; three years of experience as a school site administrator, preferably in a high school or middle school setting Desirable Qualifications: • Bilingual/Spanish • Knowledge and use of computers and technology • Knowledge of laws relating to minors
