The Culver City Unified School District is seeking an enthusiastic leader to serve under the direction of the Superintendent as the educational leader and chief executive of one of the District’s five elementary schools. In this respect, the principal will be responsible for the overall instructional program and operation of the school plant, and must actively promote effective relationships between the school and the community.

POSTING MAY CLOSE SOONER IF ENOUGH QUALIFIED APPLICANTS APPLY Elementary Prinicpal - Immersion Programs (Spanish and Japanese) El Marino Language School (Elementary), a California Distinguished School and National Blue Ribbon School, is one of the five elementary schools in the Culver City Unified School District (CCUSD). It is one of the oldest, continuously operating language public schools in California. The school houses the Spanish Immersion program and the Japanese Immersion program. The CCUSD Spanish Immersion Program began in 1971 and was patterned after the St. Lambert Program in Canada. The Japanese Immersion Program began in 1992. In both programs, students learn the District curriculum while developing language skills in both English and the target language [Japanese or Spanish]. CCUSD and El Marino Language School are committed to inclusive practices to support the diverse population at our schools. Minimum Qualifications Five years of classroom teaching experience at the elementary level. Documented and demonstrated effective instructional, organizational and administrative leadership. Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, community, and employee organizations. Experience with Immersion Education, intercultural communication skills and demonstrated bilingual skills are desirable. Education A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university and a California Administrative credential are required. Evidence of continuing graduate coursework is desirable. CLAD or BCLAD is highly desirable. Spanish or Japanese language proficiency is preferred.

Selection Process The qualifications of each applicant will be evaluated by a screening committee comprised of respected education leaders. The adopted criteria will be utilized during the screening, interviewing, and final decision-making process. After the screening process is completed, the assistant superintendent will determine those candidates to be interviewed. Interviews will be conducted end of July and finalists will be invited to return for an additional interview with the Superintendent and Board Member(s). The successful candidate will assume his/her position as soon thereafter as is mutually agreeable. Conditions of Employment All employment offers are conditional, based upon the successful completion of the following: Fingerprint/background clearance, and a tuberculosis clearance. A physical examination clearance is required for certain positions for the district. All candidates with a record of convictions must indicate such in the confidential/legal section of the application, which is attached to the job application. A record of conviction will not automatically disqualify an applicant from employment, but a failure to list all convictions may result in disqualification or dismissal.
