ABOUT THE CALIFORNIA VIRTUAL ACADEMIES AND THE MIDDLE SCHOOL INSTRUCTIONAL PARAPROFESSIONAL EDUCATOR POSITION: The California Virtual Academies (a network of 9 public charter schools) delivers online/virtual home based instruction to TK-12 students in California. While our schools do offer some scheduling flexibility, students are required to complete approximately 4-6 hours of coursework daily and log attendance. Stride is our curriculum provider. Under the direction of an administrator, and in cooperation with credentialed teachers, this position performs duties necessary to assist in providing academic instruction to students within our remediation programs. This is an hourly position of up to 18 hours per week.
Requirements / Qualifications
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Maintain high expectations for all students and a deep belief that all students can learn. • Works with the Middle School instructional lead teacher to provide small group or 1:1 live tutoring in foundational skills, under the direct supervision of the MS Instructional Lead teacher in the same session. • Utilizes the learning materials provided by the MS Instructional Lead teacher. • Assist Instructional Lead in monitoring and collecting student performance data. • Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials and/or skills introduced and outlined by teaching staff. • Provide support for students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate and access the in educational activities. • Attend necessary training sessions to support students with remediation. • Motivate students through effective communication and evaluative feedback • Model a personal code of ethics aligned with CAVA’s policies. • Maintain necessary records. • Uses direction from the administrative team to carry out duties. • Other duties as assigned HOURS AND SALARY INFORMATION: $18 per hour This is an hourly position of up to 18 hours per week. Part Time: Monday-Friday 9am-12pm You are not allowed to have another job during these contracted hours.

We do provide training for all programs and we have a great staff to serve as your support system. Requirements/Experience: Have at least one of the following (proof of one of the following must be uploaded to your application in order to be considered): 1. Completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (60+ semester units) 2. Have an associate’s or higher degree 3. Have a passing score on the California Basic Education Skills Test (CBEST) REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
- Letter of Introduction (Please attach a letter telling us about yourself and why you would like to provide contracted services for California Virtual Academies.)
- Other (Other (Please attach your CBEST scores and/or transcripts that show that you have completed at least two years of study (60+ semester units) at an institution of higher education and/or transcripts that have a conferral of either an Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree, or higher degree awarded by the college/university.))
