MONROVIA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT TITLE: ELEMENTARY TEACHER QUALIFICATIONS: Valid California Credential and EL Certification Required JOB GOAL: To provide an educational program to elementary pupils ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: • Utilize course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities. • Develop lesson plans. • Use diagnostic techniques to assess pupils' scholastic and social strengths and needs. • Prescribe appropriate learning experiences to meet individual needs. • Utilize a variety of teaching methods and learning modes in instructing pupils, for both individual and small group instruction. • Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports. • Create an effective physical environment for learning through interest centers, functional and attractive displays, bulletin board and furniture arrangements. • Counsel pupils to help them develop strategies for solving personal problems. • Establish reasonable expectations for pupil behavior and help pupils to grow in their individual abilities to meet these expectations. • Maintain and improve professional competence through participation in curriculum development and/or inservice educational activities. • Communicate with parents through a variety of means: Conferences, pupil evaluation forms, letters, etc. • Supervise pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned workday. • Perform basic attendance accounting and clerical tasks as required. • Perform other duties as assigned.
