These are the essential requirements to serve in the Online Coordinator role:   

  • Any combination of training/education, and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university. (plus associated credential requirements to be listed per role).
  • Minimum of 5+ years of successful combined experience in administrative leadership (3 years in a credentialed teaching role + 2 years of increased leadership responsibilities),  comparable private and/or non-profit sector experience, or related school operations.
  • Valid California Multiple or Single Subject Teacher Credential; clear credential preferred.
  • Online teaching experience and/or Online Teaching & Learning Certificate preferred.
  • Working knowledge of research-based practices to target and increase academic performance and high proficiency in relevant technologies for online schools. 
  • Implementation of California Standards for the Teaching profession and National Standards for Quality Online Learning.
  • Working knowledge of the principles, methods and procedures of computer operation and computer skills including literacy in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) or Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides) and proficiency in school technology platforms such as school information systems and learning management systems.
  • Knowledge of best practices for instructional coaching
  • Ability to successfully handle educational or behavioral issues and concerns that may arise with staff, scholars, and families.
  • Proficient in digital engagement: computer & software skills. (ie Google Suite and Microsoft), social media literacy (ie Twitter, Google Classroom, website navigation), information & communication (email, intranets), web & mobile applications, interpersonal & social networking skills, and student/school systems (ie student information system, digital courseware, online learning platforms


Example duties for the Online Coordinator may include:

  • Monitors and supports scholar achievement through: reporting and collecting relevant scholar data; identifying scholars in need of academic intervention support; implementing cross-departmental frameworks such as MTSS, 504 plans, IEP accommodations, EL support strategies; and scholar recognition.
  • Learns and masters inter-departmental systems to assist supervising teachers, including, but not limited to, MTSS interventions, 504 plans, IEP accommodations, and EL support strategies.
  • Assists the Director of Online Learning and others as needed in meeting division and organizational goals.
  • Supports the implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of an innovative and comprehensive personalized online learning program by ensuring compliance with education code, as well as other initiatives that contribute to scholar success.
  • Observes and evaluates both synchronous and asynchronous teaching.
  • Creates and implements systems to streamline accessibility in the Online learning program for scholars and families. 
  • Participate in Local and State assessment requirements and procedures.
  • Provides program and personnel feedback to collaborate with the director for informed decision making on program improvement.
  • Acts as the administrative designee on IEP meetings by taking notes and ensuring compliance on behalf of the school. 
  • Participates in SST meetings, ensures meeting efficiency and contributes relevant information to support scholar achievement.
  • Assists in the development, editing, and production of messaging and resources for supervising teachers and scholars.
  • Supports implementation of the tiered re-engagement plan


Work Environment:

Position is based in an approved home office in the State of California. As the safety, adequacy, and functionality of the approved home office is key, approval must be provided to work from any other location with the exception of the Central Office. May be required to also work from the Central Office, Learning Center, or other Compass location as directed by supervisor or the Superintendent & CEO. Must be able to work a flexible schedule as needed to meet the needs of scholars, Learning Coaches (parents), and staff. Must be able to travel throughout the State of California for school-related activities. Note - you will be required to notify HR if any work will be performed in San Francisco or out of state for any period of time for review and pre-approval.
