10 month Classroom Teacher on Special Assignment - this position's compensation is based on the 10-month teacher schedule, but carries an additional stipend. BASIC FUNCTION In support of the District’s strategic direction, full service community school focus, and The Central Kitchen, Education Center and Instructional Farm (The Center) this TSA works to facilitate environmental literacy, food and garden education programming on site for student field trips. Under the supervision of The Center Education Coordinator, the Nutrition and Garden Education TSA will coordinate all aspects of on site field trips working closely with Center Staff (education, garden and nutrition teams), school staff risk management department and external vendors, to plan and facilitate day of programming, support and collaborate with Americorps service members and provide pre and post training and educational resources to school site teachers. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES In collaboration with Center Education & Programming Team and under the supervision of The Center Education Coordinator: Design and facilitate environment, food and garden education and programming at The Center Lead the design and facilitation of field trips and other innovative activities for student and teacher at The Center, such as: place-based nature activities promoting environmental and climate literacy, garden stewardship, taste tests and cooking demonstrations , etc. and coordinate on site, day of logistics for Field Trips - daily schedule, materials management, etc. Lead all administrative duties linked to coordinating on site field trips - such as outreach
