New West Charter is an award-winning 6-12th grade independent charter school in Los Angeles, California. Our school attracts a diverse student population from all over the area, focuses on academics, and builds confidence through the arts and athletics. We are looking to add an enthusiastic Film Production & Yearbook electives teacher to New West’s high school faculty to serve students in grades 8-12. The ideal candidate would be a highly qualified and experienced teacher who is ready to lead one period of Yearbook, three periods of HS Film Production and 1 section of 8th Grade Film Production and communicate their passion for the subject to the students in alignment with the California Content Standards. Teachers with English, Social Science, and/or Media, Arts, & Entertainment CTE Credentials are encouraged to apply! Our school values student-centered learning. Teachers are expected to engage students in lessons that help them make meaning for themselves through classroom activities (demonstrations, simulations, labs, discussions, debates), assignments (creative projects and evidence-based persuasive papers), and assessments (multiple formative and summative assessments to measure progress towards mastery).
