About the Employer
We are a unified school district serving more than 16,150 students in grades K -12. We have thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, three specialized high schools, two alternative high schools and one K-8 school. We also offer a home schooling program, adult education courses and other unique programs to fit the needs of all students. Our school district employs approximately 1,100 certificated and nearly 900 classified employees. Antioch Unified School District is centrally located in the East Bay and provides ready access to scenic mountains, waterfronts, wine country, historical sites and the Pacific Ocean. Antioch is known as the “Gateway to the Delta” and is one of California’s oldest cities, with a diverse community of approximately 100,000. The Antioch Unified School District is a Merit System District. As such, final selection of our classified staff members will be made from candidates who have been placed on an eligibility list. Eligibility is determined via an evaluation and competitive screening/scoring of a candidate’s training and experience as demonstrated on the application and responses provided in the supplemental questions.

BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Human Resources Supervisor-Classified, perform a variety of activities involved in the processing and placement of substitute personnel; provide information and assistance to District personnel, job applicants and the general public regarding personnel functions; maintain various personnel records and files. IDEAL CANDIDATE: Experience working in a school district or public entity Human Resources department. Experience with employee record-keeping, processing new personnel, maintaining, and manipulating various spreadsheets and reports. Will be technology savvy with intermediate to expert software proficiency. Must be proficient in Microsoft skills with an emphasis on Excel. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks with heavy telephone usage and interruptions, while providing excellent customer service. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and two years general clerical experience including one (1) year of human resources functions. Spanish speaking desirable. SELECTION & EXAMINATION: The selection process will consist of a competitive application packet screening for completeness and qualifications. A written/performance exam (weighted 40%) and an oral interview (weighted 60%) will be conducted. The dates of the exams are to be determined. A passing score must be achieved on each portion of the exams. Final selection will be made from those who achieve the three highest ranking scores.
