BASIC FUNCTION: Under general supervision, to perform a variety of clerical tasks in the establishment and maintenance of automated and manual student records; to provide information and assistance to students, staff, parents, and the public. Answer calls and inquiries by phone and in person. Perform other related work as required. ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: (Will include but not limited to the following) Performs a wide variety of clerical work including data entry, typing, filing, photocopying, auditing and recording information. Receives telephone calls and transmits messages. Greet guests to Main Office including parents/guardians and other school visitors. Create initial student files for incoming students. Maintains confidential student records and files. Contacts parents/guardians to verify student absences. Enters student absences into Aeries system. Assists in the preparation of attendance reports. Enters and updates student demographic data. Copies and distributes student records and transcripts for transfer or storage. Supervises students within the office. Provides back-up coverage for students during rest and meal periods. Assists when needed to perform duties as Health Clerk. QUALIFICATIONS: BILINGUAL SPANISH -- required! Knowledge of modern office practices, methods and procedures. Record-management and filing systems Familiarity with California Education Code and District attendance policies. Exhibit professionalism, honesty, integrity, and respect for everyone on campus. Possess strong customer service skills including, punctuality, focused attention, positive attitude, and professional telephone etiquette. SKILLS: Work accurately, efficiently, and independently with many interruptions. Work directly with the public, teachers, students, families and other district staff.
