The El Camino Community College District is now accepting applications for anticipated part-time faculty positions in kinesiology/physical education, pep squad/cheer coach for the summer 2023 semester.
Under the director of the Dean of Health Sciences & Athletics, organize and coordinate assigned Pep Squad activities and functions on and off campus' to promote educational experiences and opportunities designed to meet the needs of those students who want to develop their skills and abilities in cheer techniques, choreography and dance. Primary teaching and coaching assignment will be specifically related to the Pep Squad.
Other duties include: advise pep squad in leadership, conduct and assure compliance with established rules and policies; prepare and monitor assigned budgets and maintain accurate budget balances, records and statements; order uniforms and equipment; supervise practices and performances; assist in arranging district transportation to games and special events as required; plan, organize and supervise tryouts; facilitate communication between the Pep Squad, athletes; coaches, parents, management and the Pep Band; edit and approve flyers, posters and other material prepared by Pep Squad members; plan and organize an off-season conditioning program and fund-raising as needed within the program.
Faculty job responsibilities include the development/review of curriculum and assessment of learning outcomes to improve teaching and learning in achieving El Camino College's mission of institutional effectiveness, quality educational programs, and vibrant student support services. Some assignments may include dual-enrollment courses offered offsite on high school campuses.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in kinesiology, physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercises or adaptive physical education; OR
Bachelor's in any of the above AND Master's in any life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration or physical therapy; OR
The equivalent - Candidates not possessing the required qualification(s) as stated on this announcement must complete the Request For Equivalency Form as part of the application process to explain in detail how their qualifications are equivalent to those above; OR
Valid California community college instructor credential in appropriate subject issued prior to July 1, 1990 (per California Education Code 87355); AND
Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the racial, socio-economic, academic, and cultural diversity within student populations, including students with disabilities, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated successful university, community college or high school coaching experience.
Recent coaching experience, preferably at the collegiate level.

SALARY:
Part-time faculty are compensated on a semester basis according to the number of class hours assigned per semester and on cumulative semesters of instruction for the District. The beginning summer rate is $81.48-$111.91 (lecture), $73.33-$100.72 (lab), per hour depending on education and experience.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is a part-time, temporary position for the summer semester, beginning June 19, 2023. Assignments may include off-site locations.
